Using Your Cell Phone to Get Instant Backlinks via Twitter
I admit I wasn’t a huge fan of twitter a while back, I thought it was just another web 2.0 fad for people who want keep in touch. Looking at it from a SEO point of view, that attitude has changed. BIG TIME!
Twitter is very powerful yet very minimal.
I wanted to send twits from my cell phone for those times when I’m out and about. So last night I set up my phone to access my twitter account. Once I got it all set up (which only took a few seconds) I sent twitter a twit. I refreshed my twitter page and bingo there is was, I also noticed my signature I had previously set in my phone was also sent.
By the way my phone is an old piece of junk Sanyo Katana.
So that got me thinking – “Can I make that signature an active link?”
My phone signature previously read www.oneguysblog.com. I set that up so when my friends received texts they would see my website address and hopefully visit it – but I found something better
After editing my cell phone signature to include http://, all the test twits I sent had links. Not bad for some trial and error eh? Look at the results
Obviously You have to add symbols and letters, but it‘s going to be well worth it.
Think of the SEO benefits here. Twitter has a Google PR (PageRank) of 7/10, that’s great for MANY high quality backlinks back to your site.
So get to work and set up you cell phone signature. I might take some browsing through your phone settings but its well worth it.
P.S. - I also tried setting my signature to include the full HTML so I could change my anchor text. It didn’t work. =(
P.S.S. This is an example of how to stay focused on the positive, sometimes we just need to look at things from a different perspective.
